Hey Lenz-
Back in the day; well before Linuxcare at least, I did the OS/2 thing. Warp has had a rich heritage of ported tools and we used to download the various unix tools back then and install the runtime libraries. I remember running SLRN and a few other tools from hobbes.nmsu.edu back then.
OS/2 was always a superior operating system and its multitasking abilities are legendary. Its good to see that critical applications are maintained because I still know a fair number of folks that run it. Way back when when I worked at the GAP we were a huge OS/2 shop and life was good. I loved being an OS/2'er and looking out at thousands of OS/2 desktops humming away. We had relatively few service and support calls then. Then along came NT4 Workstation...
That was a downturn in quality and an upturn in numbers of support tickets about something most of those folks had never seen... Namely BSOD screens.
Hi Mike! Thanks for your comment. Yes, I too remember maintaining OS/2 desktop systems in a previous life. It was quite a decent OS, especially in comparison to the other options available at that time. I think it's great to see that some folks still care about it. And using *nix and OSS tools makes sure that a migration path to Linux or *BSD is painless <img src="/templates/default/img/emoticons/wink.png" alt=";-)" style="display: inline; vertical-align: bottom;" class="emoticon" />
